Upcycled Birdhouse

The weather is slowly getting warmer a sure sign that spring is on its way. A great time to upcycle a cute little birdhouse.

For my pallet I used a metal birdhouse I found at my local thrift store. My goal was to completely cover the house with bits and pieces of just about anything I could find. I used sequins, buttons, earrings, a watch face, beads, sea glass, broken dishes, glass globs and aquarium rocks.

I started by covering the house front. I used cheap school glue for the light weight items, for the heavy items I used Wellbond.

Once the front was completely covered I let it dry before moving on the sides, back and roof. I found it helped to prop the house up and keep it level when working. I really loved the way it turned out, my birdhouse with bits and pieces.

My Return

Well.... it has been almost a year since my last post so I decided it was time start posting again.

My latest and greatest project was to collage up a vintage plate.

I have so many pretty yet plain vintage plates. This is a great way to display them. I really enjoyed this project and I can't wait to get started on another.

Altered Hand Mirror #2

This is another hand mirror I have altered. These are so much fun and you can really get creative with embellishments. I decorated this mirror with several different items including a belt. Thrift store belts can be repurposed so many different ways. I use belts as straps for my purses. I use decorative buckles in collages. I have even disassembled beaded belts and reused the beads.

Altered Hand Mirror

I really like altered art. I am not sure if this qualifies or not. I purchased this hand mirror from a thrift store. It was an ugly plastic mirror. I painted, decoupaged and added different embellishments. I really like the way the back of the mirror turned out. This is another good project using up some junk jewelry....

Keyboard Jewelry

This is a fun project. I took the keys off an old computer keyboard and made a necklace. Cool way to to reuse, recycled and repurpose.

I am having a little problem getting motivated today. I really want to cut up some sweaters and make mittens. I have a purse all cut out that I need to assemble. The purse looks at me everyday and says "could you please sew me up today". I have a quilt (half finished) for my grandson and so may other projects just screaming to be completed. I should have made that my resolution for the New Year, but i didn't. Besides, I already have a resolution that I am not sticking with.

Junk Mirror

Here is a mirror I made using up some of my junk jewelry. Once the glue has dried and the mirror is cleaned up it will be done (so I say). I will end up playing with it some more and adding to it.

Tomorrow is the estate sale.... I really hope to find some more junk for my stash......

This is a project I came up with. It was very simple but I only used a couple pieces of my junk jewelry stash. I am hoping to go to an estate sale and the thrift store on Friday. If I come across any goodies I will post some pics.
